Buy a used engine

When we think about buying a used engine, we need to consider different aspects to make our purchase work out. Where to buy it

First of all, we should purchase a place that meets all the legal requirements. It is also important that the seller gives us a guarantee on the engine we purchase. This is not only because we will be covered from bugs for a few months, but also because, by providing it to us, it shows that the product has been checked and is in good condition. The escape

Turning to mechanical issues, one of the points that tell us a lot about an engine is the smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. Of course, it is necessary to be able to start it. If it is blue, it shows that the engine consumes a lot of oil and is very worn out. On the other hand, black smoke indicates excessive fuel consumption, while white shows that not enough fuel reaches the combustion or that condensation occurs in the exhaust itself.

Cleaning

As a general rule, we recommend that we distrust an excessively clean or very dirty engine. But it is also worth noting if their appearance is homogeneous or, on the contrary, some pieces look newer. In this regard, you should also look at the screws to see if there are any signs of handling, since in this case it will have undergone a major repair, and it is also advisable to check the condition of hoses and belts. We will also look at the connection points between the engine parts to see if they are wet or oozing liquid.

The final look

Even if we don’t know about engines, it is very convenient that we look at what we are going to buy from a certain distance. It is the way to see it as a homogeneous whole and, thus, to detect aspects that seem suspicious to us, such as missing parts or uncovered holes.
